What is Content Filtering ?
Normal web filtering relies on very large list of bad sites. If you try to go to these sites access will be blocked. i.e. your web access is filtered by web address. The web is a fast changing place making filtering by web address (URL) difficult as sites constantly change and new ones are created. It is impossible to have comprehensive filtering using just URLs. Content Filtering is needed to check every page accessed, for 'bad' subjects such as drugs, profanities, racism and pornography, to disallow and prevent access to it, if it's not suitable.
This is why DVS Gate is necessary, making the web a cleaner, safer place.
An extra advantage is that DVS Gate is fully configurable so that topics can be made available on a company wide , group or individual basis as appropiate rather than imposing a one size fits all approach.
DVS Gate filters using multiple methods. These methods include URL and domain filtering, content phrase filtering, PICS filtering, MIME filtering, file extension filtering and POST limiting.
Content phrase filtering checks for pages that contain profanities and phrases often associated with pornography and other undesirable content. POST filtering blocks or limits web uploads. URL and domain filtering combines with content filtering and manages a huge and constantly updated database of inappropriate, dangerous and banned sites which has been developed to perform with minimal impact.
Our filtering technology has configurable domain, user and source ip exception lists. SSL tunneling is also supported.
Our fully configurable logging produces reports, in an easy to read format, which has the option to only log text-based pages, significantly reducing redundant information.
